1. Did you enjoy your childhood?
2. What is the first thing you remember about your childhood?
3. What did you like doing when you were a child?
4. Did you grow up in a city, town or village?
5. What was your favourite toy?
6. Did you like going to school?
7. Did you have a best friend when you were a child?
8. How much time did you spend with your grandparents?

Give your opinion

You can give your opinion with phrases such as, "in my opinion", "in my view", or "as far as I'm concerned".

IELTS Speaking Part 2

Describe a happy childhood memory.


You should say:

  • when and where the event happened

  • who you were with what happened

  • and explain why it is a happy memory

You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.

Try the PPF method

Think about the Past, Present and Future. When did you first/ last/ recently do something? When do you do it now? When will you do it again?

1. How does your childhood influence what kind of person you become?
2. Should children be allowed to spend a lot of time watching TV or playing computer games?
3. Is it important for grandparents to help raise their grandchildren?
4. Is it important for children to have role models?
5. Are more children spoilt now than in the past?
