Jane: Hello, Family Holiday Camp, Jane speaking
Man: Hi, I’m calling about the holiday camp - I’m thinking about bringing my family of four and would like some more information please.
Jane: Great, well, (1)the camp is open from May until October. We focus on providing a fun, and safe environment where the whole family can spend quality time together. How old are your kids?
Man: (2)Chris is 10 and Mary is 8. They’re both really active so we’re looking for somewhere with lots of activities for them. Mary loves swimming and Chris is really into football at the moment.
Jane: Well, here’s the perfect place for them. So, to give you an idea, we have the Splash Waterpark, which Mary is sure to love then. (3)There are 4 slides, and a wave pool. We also run a football academy, where Chris can train and play with other kids his age. And by the way, we have a dedicated team of instructors, so you can be sure that the kids will be safe and well looked after at all times.Oh, and (4)none of the pools are deep, so it’s a safe place even for weak swimmers.
Man: Right, and could you tell me a little more about the football academy?
Jane: Well, it’s divided into three age groups, 7 to 9 years old, 10 to 12 year olds, and 13 to 15 year olds, so Chris would be in the 10 to 12 age group. The academy runs from 10am to 12pm (5)every day except Sunday. There are two instructors with each group, and a supervisor, who looks after the academy. Kids can practise ball skills, take part in various activities, and then we play mini games at the end of each session. We aim to create a supportive and fun environment for all the young players.
Man: Ok, and how about the water park - do my wife and I need to supervise the kids while they’re there?
Jane: Well, we have supervised groups for kids every afternoon, where our instructors watch over the kids, so you can have a bit of time to yourselves.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Man: Right, and could you tell me a bit about the instructors?
Jane: Sure, well, first of all, to join our trainer team you have to have some experience working with kids. All of our instructors have to (6)submit a reference from someone who’s seen them doing this - like if they’ve helped out at a kids club, assisted a teacher, or worked as a babysitter. And they need to be keen on sport obviously. After that, they all go through a two week intensive training programme, which includes activity planning, and generally how to ensure the well-being of the kids in their care. We’re a close-knit team.
Man: Right, and how many kids are there in each group usually?
Jane: Well, (7)in the football academy the maximum is 20 kids in each age group, but usually the group size is closer to 15. For the supervised waterpark groups, we limit the size to 10 - but we can run multiple groups each day, so there’s always room for everyone.
Man: Great, and what about accommodation while we’re there?
Jane: Sure, (8)we have cozy cabins nestled in the heart of the park that are perfect for families. They're spacious enough for everyone to have their own space but still feel connected. Plus, they come with all the amenities you'd need for a comfortable stay, (9)including kitchen facilities if you prefer to cook your own meals.
Man: To be honest, we’d rather not cook while we're on holiday? Could you tell me about the dining options.
Jane: Well you don’t need to worry about a thing. We have 3 restaurants on site. They include the Dinosaur Diner, which has all the kids favourites, the Pasta Box, which is as you can imagine, specialises in pasta, but has great pizza too, and the Salad Factory, where you can find something lighter if you fancy it. (10)We also offer room service, so you don’t even need to leave your cabin if you don’t feel like it.
Man: That all sounds good, I’ll speak to my wife and call back soon to make a booking soon. Thanks!
