  WRITING

9. Letter to Friend (Informal)

In your letter, you should say:

  • explain what the experience was

  • describe why it was so exciting

  • share your feelings during the experience

  • invite your friend to join you for a similar adventure

Model Answer:

Dear Charlie,

I hope you and the family are doing well. I wanted to share with you an exhilarating experience I recently had that I'm sure you would have absolutely loved.

Last weekend, I went skydiving for the first time. The rush I got as I jumped out of the plane, and then the thrilling freefall was beyond anything I had ever imagined. The feeling of weightlessness and the breathtaking view as I descended was simply unforgettable.

To be honest with you, I was scared stiff when we were flying up in the plane. My heart was pounding like crazy, and I wasn’t totally sure that I’d be able to go through with it. But, somehow I managed to jump and the moment I was out of the plane, I totally forgot my fear and could enjoy the enchanting experience of floating through the air.

I can't help but think how incredible it would be if you went with me next time. I know how much you enjoy extreme sports, so I’m guessing you would jump at the chance to try it (excuse the pun!). We could plan a trip together in the near future if you like.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

All the best,

Sam
