General Training Writing Task 1

13. Letter to Event Organiser (Formal)

You recently attended a business conference in a foreign country. Write a letter to the organiser of the conference.

In your letter:

  • thank them for organising the event.

  • say what you liked about the conference

  • provide feedback on any improvements that could be made

Model Answer:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my gratitude for organising the recent entrepreneurship conference held in Oslo. The event was exceptionally well-planned and executed, and it provided a wealth of knowledge that will be of great benefit in the future to aspiring entrepreneurs like myself.

The session on productivity hacks for start-ups was particularly enlightening. Strategies to streamline operations while maximising profitability were discussed in-depth, offering practical insights that could significantly impact a new business. Additionally, the panel on consumer-focused branding and marketing strategies provided tips and advice that will undoubtedly be helpful in creating a strong brand identity.

While the conference was clearly a success, I would like to offer a suggestion for future events. A more interactive Q&A session following each presentation could further engage the audience and encourage in-depth discussions on the topics presented. This could improve the overall learning experience and give attendees a chance to clarify any doubts they have.

Once again, I’d like to express my appreciation for your efforts in arranging the event. I look forward to future conferences organised by your team.

Thank you and best regards,

Humphrey Stockhart
