WRITING
Model Answer:
The diagrams illustrate how the grounds around a school were developed over a 20 year period. In general, it can be seen that while the main school building did not change in any way between 1990 and 2010, the territory around the school was significantly redeveloped in order to accommodate new school facilities.
In 1990 the school consisted of only one large building and a playground. In front of the school there was an area of housing and beside this a field used as farmland. The school was directly beside a road, and there was nowhere for parking. By the year 2000 the farmland had been turned into a sports field and some of the houses had been replaced by shops.
Further developments took place between 2000 and 2010 because in 2010 the housing area no longer existed and had been replaced by additional shops and a large car park directly in front of the school. In addition, some of the space in the playground was now occupied by a new nursery school building. Only the original school building remained unchanged since 1990.
