IELTS Writing Task 1 Academic Chart, Diagram or Map

Model Answer:

The bar chart provides information about the mean number of tickets sold each day of the week in a theme park over three parts of the day. Overall, it can be seen that the largest number of tickets are usually sold between 9am and 12pm and that the weekends are far busier than weekdays.

It is evident that Mondays are the quietest days at the theme park, with the fewest tickets sold. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are marginally busier, with average sales reaching approximately 2500 tickets during the morning and at around 2000 tickets between midday and 3pm. On Friday, there is a noticeable increase in tickets purchased compared to the previous four days. Friday mornings in particular show a substantial increase in sales, with a rise of roughly 1500 tickets in comparison with Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.

On the weekend, ticket sales jump. Overall Saturdays are the busiest day of the week with around 19000 tickets sold over the day, while Sundays are not much quieter, with about 15500 tickets sold. Saturday is the only day where sales from 12pm to 3pm are greatest, with about 500 more tickets sold than during the morning session.
