Model Answer:
The two maps illustrate how an industrial park in Cattgate will be converted into a residential area in the future. Overall, we can see that several factories will be demolished and replaced by housing and other facilities.
Currently, Cattgate industrial park consists of 5 factories which are laid out around a large roundabout and two minor roads. To the east of the factories there is a river, and on the other side of the river there is land which is used for farming.
In the future, the factories will be completely removed. In their place several areas of housing will be built. In addition, the road system will be extended to the north and to the east of the roundabout. A bridge will be built over the river allowing the new eastern road to cross it. The area on the eastern side of the river which today is farmland will be used for new housing.
In addition to the construction of the housing, two new large facilities will be added. A sports centre will be built on the western bank of the river, and a primary school will be established in the southern part of the park.
