Model Answer:
The figure demonstrates the processes involved in producing apple juice. Overall, it can be seen how apples are transformed into apple juice after passing through several industrial processes.
The key raw material in making apple juice is apples. These must first be grown in an orchard, and then picked during the harvesting process. The freshly picked apples are sent for sorting, where low quality apples with blemishes or defects are separated from high quality apples. These low quality apples are used as animal feed. The apples which are suitable for human consumption are then washed and disinfected.
In the next main stage of apple juice production, the cleaned apples are crushed and turned into juice by a large machine. Before the juice can be packaged, it must first be pasteurised, which involves heating the juice to 90 to 95 degrees centigrade. Finally, the juice is safe and ready for packaging. It is put into cartons which are then transported to shops where they can be bought by consumers.
