IELTS Writing Task 1 Academic Chart, Diagram or Map

Model Answer:

The diagram illustrates the process for producing electricity from wind, including the stages and the equipment used. Overall, it can be seen that the process begins with capturing wind energy with a turbine and ends with electricity being transported on the national electricity network.

In order to produce electricity from wind, firstly a large wind turbine must be installed, which rotates when the wind is blowing. Next as the turbine spins, a gearbox converts the slow spins of the large turbine into a much faster spinning motion. Following this, the mechanical energy is converted into electric power in a generator. Next, this electrical power moves to a power interface where it is then loaded onto the electricity grid. At this point it is ready to be used in electrical devices in homes and factories across the country.

The first stage in electricity production from wind involves transforming wind power into mechanical power using a turbine and gearbox. This mechanical power is then converted into electrical power, before being put onto the electricity grid in the final stage.
